APPROACH FOR INTEGRATED SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE'S (ISODEC) ENGAGEMENT WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATIONS ON NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
On the 20" of December, 20 II, the Constitution Review Commission (hereinafter the "CRC") submitted its final report to the President, delivering thus on its' mandate to undertake a consultative review of the 1992 Constitution, and to articulate popular views on the strengths and weaknesses of the existing constitutional framework.
Subsequent to the submission of this Report, the Government discharged its constitutional responsibility I by publishing a whitepaper which outlined the stance of the Government on the recommendations contained in the Report of the CRC.
The Whitepaper accepted most of the recommendations of the Commission, and improved on the recommendations of the Commission in a few instances. In other areas the "Whitepaper departed from the Report of the Commission, and gave reasons for same.
The extent to which these two documents of significant historical relevance relate or correlate, converge or diverge, complement or detract from each other has in equal measure generated extensive public interest, debate and academic inquiry.
